Recycle Plastic Bags and Film with the Green Committee

Single use plastics are almost a thing of the past thanks to NJ’s “Bag Ban” which went into effect in May 2022 and which helps to reduce the amount of plastic that is discarded daily in our state. The Green Committee has been working to help get bags out of the waste stream for many years. We have collected over 700 pounds of bags and recycled them through the Trex Community Recycling Challenge. Drop off bags and other types of plastic film at Green Committee events, or in collection bins located at Hammonton Town Hall (100 Central Ave.) and at the Hammonton branch of the Atlantic County Library System.

Please remember: plastic bags and plastic film should NOT go in your recycling bin. Bags get tangled in the sorting machinery at recycling processing facilities. They damage equipment and cause big problems. Recycle bags in collection bins at stores and locations like the Library.
