Winter Sowing Workshop

This popular workshop is back! Learn about winter sowing, a great way to get ahead with seed starting, especially for native plants that require cold to germinate in the spring. We’ll provide seeds and soil, all you need is a few containers from your recycling bin. Register here
Community Wide Clean Up

This annual event brings families, students and caring individuals together to keep Hammonton beautiful. What started as a park clean up at the Hammonton Lake has expanded to include other areas across the community that could use a little love. A registration link will be posted soon!

Build a Bee Abode
Monday, June 16, 6 pm, Hammonton Canoe Club
With Watershed Ambassador Morgan Crouch, we learned about the benefits of incorporating native plants into the home garden and explored the important role of pollinators in nature while highlighting their need for specific nesting conditions. Fun for kids and families.
Make a Rain Barrel
Sunday, June 22, 11 am, Hammonton Canoe Club
100 Sports Drive, Hammonton Lake Park
Learn about water conservation and build your own water-saving rain barrel!
All materials provided. This workshop featured an optional rain barrel painting session.
Seed Swap

Community Wide Clean Up
Saturday, March 8* from 10 am to 12 pm
Meet at Hammonton Lake Park, 100 Sports Drive, Hammonton
Hammonton’s Lake Park Clean Up has expanded to include the broader community.
A great day with over 80 volunteers who collected 53 bags of trash and 33 bags or recycling.

Wreathmaking Workshop

Another fun wreathmaking workshop, with gorgeous, festive holiday wreaths created from natural materials.
Pumpkin Smash – fall composting events
November 3 & 30th, 10 am – 12pm at the Community Garden
11th and Washington, behind the NJ Transit Train Station parking lot
Residents were invited to recycle pumpkins and fall decor and make space for the next holiday! Pumpkins, gourds, mums and cornstalks shouldn’t end up in the landfill.

Paint a Pumpkin at the Hammonton Arts Center

We had a great time at the Hammonton Arts Center before the Halloween Parade – the Green Committee partnered with HAC for a fun, free, kid-friendly pumpkin party!

Green Drinks
Gather in an informal setting to talk with friends and neighbors, members of local Green Teams and anyone interested in joining. September’s Green Drinks was held at Ricca’s Brick Oven on September 25 starting at 6 pm. So much fun!

Community Market
Fourth Fridays June-September, from 5-8 pm on Horton Street
The Green Committee’s seasonal monthly market, moved to Fourth Fridays during the summer months. Great vendors, live music! SNAP benefits now accepted at the Community Market!

Composting 101

Composting in your backyard or indoors with worms is easier than you may think! All participants had a chance to apply to win an Earth Machine Compost Bin! Our winner was selected and announced at Hammonton’s Green Day, Saturday, November 4.
