Community Garden


The Hammonton Community Garden is located at 11th and Washington streets.

Plots are still available for the 2017 gardening season! Plots are $20 each.

Please deliver completed application with payment to Frank Zuber at Town Hall. Checks should be made out to the Town of Hammonton with a note that it is for the Community Garden. Please see application and guidelines below:

Regular Garden Meetings

Community Garden Members meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. During winter and bad weather on the Third Floor of Town Hall; in spring and summer during good weather at the garden.

From Seed to Life. Wednesday July 19, 2016 at 6:00 PM
Discover the miracle of nature and learn about the life cycle of plants. Students are invited to find out more about seed germination, share and plant seeds, and discuss how to care for their seeds. Look around your house and your backyard and see how many seeds you can find. Bring them in to plant or use in a collage activity.

Nurturing Nature. Wednesday July 26, 2016 at 6:30PM
Join us as we care for, feed and protect our garden. During this lesson we will recognize the nurturing qualities we learn from observing nature. Plant seedlings to nurture in our community garden beds and help us create plant markers using objects found in nature. Bring in recycled popsicle sticks, jar lids, cork, shells, spoons, rocks or your unique find to create your own masterpiece.

Good Bugs, Bad Bugs. Saturday July 29, 2017 at 9:00AM
Explore the importance of beneficial insects in the garden. Learn about which bugs to welcome, what they do to protect our plants, and how to create a habitat that they will love to call home. Learn how to make a nontoxic and natural mosquito repellent from organic plant based oils.

Flower Power. Tuesday Aug. 1st at 9:00AM
Celebrate the healing properties of flowers. Flowers have been know throughout time to have the ability to brighten our moods and help heal our bodies. Identify restorative properties of our favorite flowers and uncover the mystery of their unique personalities. Discover your personal birth flower and how it may be similar to you. Help us preserve garden memories with painting and flower pressing projects.

Understanding Earthworms. Wednesday Aug. 9th at 6:30PM
Why are earthworms so important to mother nature? Learn about the happy life of an earthworm and how we can make nutrient rich compost with our underground friends. Bring a shovel and a small container to help us uncover and explore these wonderful wiggly ones.

Reflect And Give Thanks. Saturday September 02, 2017 at 9:00AM
Celebrate themes of Reflection and Gratitude. Help us show our appreciation and respect for the earth and it’s many gifts through mindfulness reflections, story telling, dance, and community gardening activities including seed gathering, storing and sharing.
